Eighteen years after the publication of the seminal book on the Redington Family of Clarinbridge, join Joe Murphy for the launch of this second edition
Clarinbridge Parish Hall, 12.30pm Sunday 27th August
Clarinbridge and Kilcornan will always be associated with the Redington family, an improving, liberal, gentry family who generously developed schools, churches, the village green and many woods and amenities. In 1999 Joe Murphy published ‘The Redingtons of Clarinbridge – Leading Catholic Landlords in the 19th century’. Long out of stock, in response to many requests, Joe has printed a revised (stitched hardback) edition.
The book traces the story of the Redingtons from their arrival in Galway in the Cromwellian era to the demise of the family in the 1930s. The book tells the fascinating story of this family, with their many ups and downs, as well as examining their contribution at a national level. The book contains a large selection of interesting historical photographs.
The book will be re-launched in the Parish Hall Clarinbridge on Sunday next 27 August at 12.30 pm. All are welcome. Guest speaker will be Professor Martin Cormican N.U.I.G. Light refreshments available.
