Looking for information on the family of Thomas Brien and Bridget Redmond.

Thomas and Bridget were married August 12 1894 in County Wicklow.

Bridget's father was a John Redmond, farmer.

Thomas's father was Andrew Brien.

Both came from the Kilnamanagh area of Wicklow, which is in either Glenealy or Dunganstown.

I have some of the childern's birth certificate's, but i am missing four or more others.

The one's i have so far are;

William 1894 - Lil/Elizabeth 1896 - Michael 1898 - Jack/John 1900 - Kite/Catherine 1902 - Thomas 1904 - Patrick 1906 - Anthony 1909 - James 1912

The one's missing;

Leo - Peter - Molly

Molly is also known as Maryanne O Brien

Leo went to work on one of the islands off Ireland when he was grown, Lambay Island, apparently as a shephard, interested in any information about that?

Also;

A Frank and an Evelyn, from an old photo with William.

I found William's record of birth.

Interested in any death records as well, final resting place of Thomas and Bridget would be good too.

  • Dear Scarlett0017:

    Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site.

    You might find some helpful information in the 1901 & 1911 Census records:

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

    You might also find civil records for the family at the Irish Genealogy website.

    If you need further assistance, please let us know.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Jane,

    I already have those, somebody else was able to get me all of that information, the 1901 & 1911 census, and the birth certificates for the childern that they found.

    We just couldn't find the other ones.  I've been searching around myself as well and still nothing is coming back for the other childern; Leo, Peter, Molly and Gertie.

    Also Frank and Evelyn from the old photo that i have with William, the other person helping me managed to get William's certificate, he was born just before Thomas and Bridget married.

  • Got a great lot of info on the Brien family from Rathdrum Wicklow, i've gone back as far as Thomas Briens father who was an Andrew Byran married to Elizabeth Russell.

    Then Andrews father William O Brien born in  abt-1796 who married Eliza Doyle and they had their marriage registered in 1851 Manchester England, haven't been able to get my hands on a certificate though.

    Haven't been able to get a certificate for Andrew either, don't know if he was born in England or Ireland.

    But it is looking like this side of the family could have orginated from England.

    So the Orginal family member i was researching from this end was;  Patrick Joseph Brien, whose parents were Thomas Brien and Bridget Redmond.

    Thomas Briens parents were; Andrew Byran and Elizabeth Russell.

    Andrew Byrans parents were; William O Brien and Eliza (Elizabeth) Doyle.  They had their marriage registered in England in 1851, Manchester.

    Possible brother for Andrew Byran, a William Brien.  He married a Jane Byrne in 1860.

    Elizabeth Russells parents were; Matthew Russell and Brigitta (Bridt) Lott.

    I got a Mothers name for Brigitta, Dorothea Lott, but no Fathers name so i don't know how acurate this is.

    Bridget Redmonds parents were; John Redmond and Maria Byrne.

    Just got John Redmonds fathers name as a Denis Redmond from the marriage certificate.

    Maria Byrnes parents were; Michael Byrne and Brigeda Harney.

  • Hi,

    Well i've come along way with the O'Brien/Brien family from Wicklow, orginally from Coolinakilly in Wicklow, then Rathdrum.  But still there are curiousities.

    Still no birth certificates for Leo O Brien, Peter O Brien and Maryanne (Molly) O Brien.  No death certificates either, i don't know if they would be digitised on the irishgenelogy website.

    Somebody said it may be hard to try and get certificates for the 1920s, as it was the time of the civil war.

    Peter was married to Ethel Morriessy in 1943 England, they came back to Ireland and she died the following year.

    Leo was married to Emily Gertrude Hatton, in 1944.  But he ended up on Lambay Island, i don't know why or if he went there on his own or was he married at the time.

    Thank you.
