Seeking additional information about my 3x great-grandparents, James Lynch/Linch (born abt. 1799) and Mary O’Shaughnessy Lynch/Linch (born abt. 1805). They left Ireland between 1837 and 1841 with four of their children: John (born abt. 1829), Mortimer/Martaugh (born abt. 1831), Johannah (born abt. 1833), and Michael (born abt. 1837). Patrick (born abt. 1841) was the first child born in Canada – in the Township of Dummer, County of Peterborough in present-day Ontario. Four children followed: Daniel (born abt. 1843), James (born abt. 1844), Bridget (born abt. 1847) and Mary (born abt. 1850). James Lynch was a farmer and a Roman Catholic. I am quite certain that James Lynch and Mary O’Shaughnessy were from County Limerick. I have found one possible baptismal record (transcription) that could be for the eldest son John in Askeaton Parish in north County Limerick. It gives John’s date of birth as 24 February 1830. The baptismal sponsors are Michael Cronin and Cath Shaughnessy. I’m hoping that there are Lynch or Shaughnessy descendants in Askeaton. Thank you.
