Hi there.
I am seeking Parish records for my great grandmother - in particular her death record. But any information welcome!
Can anyone help? She lived in Fanad for all her life.
Thanks
Alan

This might be Sheila’s birth on 22.9.1884 in Kinnalough, parents Edward McCarry & Ellen Gallagher:
This looks Sheila in 1901:

This looks like her marriage in 1904: (Jiley or Sile being Irish for Sheila. The English being Julia.).
McCarry family in 1911:

Sheila and husband Thomas in 1911 with their 4 children and their in-laws:

Sheila died 18.12.1965:

Elwyn, can you help me with the 1911 census? I had no idea Ua Baoighill was Boyle? What are the other forenames? Thanks!

The other things you have found are amazing, thank you so much!

Baioighill is Boyle. The Ua is “O’ as in O’Boyle”. Ni is the same for a woman and can also indicate her marital status.
Seaghan = John
Brighid = Brigid
Tomhas = Thomas
Sighle = Sheila
Eibhlin = Ellen
Donnchadh = Denis
Sara = Sarah
They also had Edward born 30.9.1911; another Edward 20.10.1913 (first presumably died) and Charles 30.11.1915.
John & Brigid in 1901:

I described the family as their in-laws. To be more accurate it’s just Thomas’s father, and aunt.

Alan:
I will also alert our parish liaison for Clondavaddog that you posted a message. Elwyn has provided a lot of great info but maybe Seamus will have more.

Thanks a lot for the information, that's certainly the kind of thing I was looking for!
Charles born in 1915 was my grandfather but sadly I never met him as he disappeared in 1966 and it was never ascertained what happened to him.

Hi Alan, sorry for delay in replying,
Would you believe that I was contacted earlier this year by a lovely women, and a relation of your own, She is Kate Warrender. Kate got in contact through ancestry as my father was coming up as a DNA match on for her, which was a great result. My Callaghan family would had ancestors married into the McCarrys (Edward McCarry & Ellen Callaghan).
I am sorry to ask but would you maybe contact me by email, as I would like to send you on an invite so you will have access to my tree.
I will be honest as I will possibly not be able to find out what happened your grandfather Charles Boyle back in 1965 because the family live in England, however I would be able to navigate the old Griffith Valuation maps and post up few screen shots and google map links to show you where the Boyles and the McCarrys would have lived in Toome/Kinnalough back in the 1850's. You could always travel there on your own steam whenever the interest might take you. Anything you need on your travels to Fanad you can find it here on the Page for Clondavaddog
