I'm looking for any indication of a Hannafin/Hanafin/ Hannifin/Hanifin family who lived in Killahan CP, in the townland of Ballymacaquim..I've seen the townland spelled as Ballymacquim as well.
Family consisted of father Jeremiah Hannafin, mother Margaret Donoghue Hannafin and two sons, John and Daniel. Last known record of their existence there was in 1913. If anyone lives in that townland and MAY know something of what happened to the family, I'd appreciate hearing from them.
There's a possibility that Jeremiah died in 1952 in East Commons Ardfert...if this is the one I'm looking for, where might he be buried?

Welcome back to Ireland Reaching Out!
I found a Hannafin family in the 1911 census in Ballymacaquim West. The father was James and the mother Bridget and they had a son Jeremiah with them. I assume this is the family in question. Bridget died in 1914. James died after her but I could not find a record. I could not find a marriage record for Jeremiah but I did find his 1947 death record. He was shown as married and from Ballymacaquim but he died in the county hospital in Tralee.

Thanks, Roger....The 1947 death cert for Jeremiah is most likely but there is another one in 1952 in East Commons, Ardfert...in the first case(1947) Jeremiah is listed as married which would mean that his wife Margaret was still living...In the second case, the informant was John Hannifin( which MAY be ) the son of Jeremiah and Margaret...problem is that there is no clear cut evidence except for the residence of Ballymacaquim in the case of the 1947 death.
Thanks for the other references...I'm hopeful that there are still some folks living in Ballymacaquim who MAY remember the family. do you know the name or names of local cemeteries in the area of Ballymacaquim or East Commons, Tralee ?
You're always very responsive which is much appreciated...Merry/Happy Christmas

Merry Christmas!
I will contact our parish liaison for Tralee to see if she can help with the cemetery question. You may not hear back for awhile because of the Holidays.

Hi Ed, kerrylaburials have no record for a Jeremiah Hannifin. The most likely place is in Ardfert itself. If you contact the Parish they may be able to help you. Best of luck and happy new year, Martine

Thanks, Mike...I've since found the birth of a daughter Bridget on or about 1916 and I've actually found her family (with the help of another researcher) living in the UK. it would be interesting to know if any school records do exist regarding any of those family members. Thanks for your reply and for your help...much appreciated.
