Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I checked www.irishgenealogy.ie and did not find a marriage record but did locate one baptismal record for a daughter Mary. See below.
We have an XO Chronicles site where you can post the story of your ancestors who left Ireland https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…
You may also want to consider autosomal DNA testing.

Thank you so much for your reply and baptism of little Mary. it is possible that she died as an infant as she wasn't on the shipping list when they left cork in 1837.Thank you also for the Chronicals website .Will do that as they went to Australia and New Zealand.

Thank you for your reply giving information of mary Regans Baptism oct.1835 daughter of John and Ellen Regan one sponser was Mary Anne Callanan. I am wondering if this could have been a sister of Ellen Callaghan with a different spelling or an entirely different person .The Callaghan and Callanan names are similar but it would be wrong of me to take it for granted that they are related.Thank you for your advice.

I went back to the parish register and the entry clearly shows Callanan for the sponsor. So I would not assume that Mary Anne was related to Ellen. By the way, the Cork South parish is St. Finbar's and that parish is one of the few parishes that have records back to the 1700s. My wife's paternal line came from that parish and we visited the church in 2015.

Thanks.Thanks.Thank you for clarifying between Callaghan and Callanan names. Thanks also for information about St.Finbarrs records, I must look and see if I can find a marriage for William Callaghan and Ellen Noonan about mid 1790s. I read that the present St.Finbarrs isn't the church which was there in about the early 1800s, that the old one was falling down.

I think the present church was there in the late 1700s. See this article. http://www.corkpastandpresent.ie/mapsimages/corkphotographs/michaelolea…
