I have attached a document that I am having trouble reading. I am trying to figure out what the word is in front of Co. Louth for Maria Boyle, who was the witness at the marriage of Thomas Egan and Bridget Boyle.  Thomas and Bridget are my great grandparents. It appears that they were married in Liverpool in 1890.  The names on the certificate are Latin versions of names.  I am wondering if Eugenii Boyle (Bridget's father) would likely be know as Eugene Boyle or perhaps Owen Boyle ? Thank you very much.

  • Maria/Mary's residence look like 'Cornamuckle', which I believe is likely reference to the townland of Cornamucklagh which is in Carlingford civil parish.

Eugenii / Euginius etc is a latinized version of Owen.

  • Hi Janeteo

    Welcome to IrelandXO

The townland is Cornamucklagh in the parish of Carlinford.

Owen matches with the birth of Bridget to Owen & Ellen Cull in 1865.
