  • Hi Aileen

As Fahy is a very common name can you supply approximate birth years for the three Fahys and a death year for Ellen?

  • This is the inforamtion I have so far.

Stephen Fahy died in 1984/1985.  He was born 1900.  On the 1911 census it said he was 11.

Annie (Hayes) Fahy died in 1987.  Not sure year of birth, but she was at least younger than Stephen.  I'm guessing she was born after 1900, maybe 1900-1905

John Fahy is born 1861-1868.  I think it's more 1865-1868.  I don't know when he passed away at this time.  His lasst wife is buried there too.  All I know is that her name was Mary.

As for Ellen, she passed away young.  She was married to John, but think she is buried under her maiden name Heller.  She was born in 1868? and passed away 1908-11.  She and John were married in the 1901 census but by 1911 John was a widow with a child named Delia age 3. (along with other children ranging from ages 11-16).  Delia left for NY in 1925

I am trying to connect my husband with a fourth cousin that is from Galway.  I think his John Fahy(mentioned above) is a sibling of my husband's great great grandfather.  I just need to find John and Stephen's parents.

    Thank you

    Aileen

  • Hi Aileen,

I blundered around for a couple of hours and MIGHT have found something?

A couple of possibles for Ellen:

There are quite a few possible marriages for John & Mary & for John's birth.

My suggestion would be to go to the NLI RC Registers (free on line) and enter TURNASCRAGH in the parish search box; that will bring up the microfilms to search for marriages (1831 to 81) & baptisms 1847-79. If you find John's birth / baptism and marriage

Also can you tell me where Mary is buried.

I stumbled on this one for Anne and the other two siblings are there too; I couldn't find the family on the 1911 census as you did to check & the birth years are a bit earlier; there is the Hehir connection and Carragh is 85KM from Teirnascragh?

  • Thank you.  Your suggestions helped me.  I found a lot of information that we added to our tree.  I am hoping to make the final link that connects my husband to his family that are still in Galway.
