My great grandparents, Michael Daly(1827-1887) & Margaret Murray(1819-1889) raised their family in Killadysert, but don't have any birth or Baptismal records for any of the family, except for their youngest sonThomas(1866-!884), who was born in Killadysert.
The family started emmigrating to the United tates in the 1870s. Their sons John(1854-1924), Martin(1864-1921), Michael(1869-1921) and daughter Bridget(1859-1924) all had settled in Buffalo New York by 1880. Their son Patrick(1862-1917) settled in Chicago Illinois and they all started raising families. Michael and Margaret and 16 yr old Thomas(1866-1884) followed them to Buffalo in 1883, to attend the Baptism of Michael's 1st born son.
I have American census and death records for all of them and have contacted several descendants of John, Martin, Patrick and Bridget. Several of us have submitted our autosomal DNA and are listed in Ancestry.com, Family tree DNA and GEDmatch.com. My 2nd cousin and I have also had our Y-DNA tested at FTDNA to 111 markers and are members of the FTDNA Daly Surname Study. Unfortunately, it appears that our Daly family was not originally from Clare, but may have been resettled from Cork in the 16th century, because while I do have several Daly Y-DNA matches, my closest 111 marker Y-DNA matches aren't Dalys, but are Sullivans, from the O'Sullivan Beare clan.
It would be nice to be able to connect with some descendants of my great grandparent's siblings, but I'm afraid that the connection is going to be behind the "Irish Brick Wall" before 1800!

You might consider creating some Ancestor Profiles for your Daly Ancestors for others to read who may be able to assist you further with your research. Many of our members read the XO Chronicles which are updated weekly and often, these members are also related to some of the profiles and sharing and collaboration can begin with others.

Hi Jane
I thought joined the parish yesterday and set up a profile. Do I need to set up a profile for each of my ancestors? I have profiles for all of them in my Ancestry.com Daly-Brdy family tree and my FamilySearch Family Tree and I've been attempting to do the same thing in WikiTree.
While I'm at it, My grandmother was Mary Ryan from Clare. She and her brother Patrick Ryan's profile are in the same databases. Will I need to make profiles for every member of that family too, or can I use a gedcom file?

Hi Martin:
Yes, you will need to make a profile for each person. You don't need to put all your ancestors in, but maybe someone from each generation. You cannot use a gedcom file. The profiles are best done by adding information with source references handy (if you have them).
