I am searching for my McIntyre Irish ancestors. Several clues have led me to County Donegal. I believe they were Presbyterian. They immigrated to New York circa 1840-1850.
Moses McIntyre b. circa 1820, his brother Alexander McIntyre b. circa 1823, and their probable older sister Elizabeth McIntyre Baird.
Elizabeth McIntyre married Robert Baird on 31 Oct 1835 in Carndonagh (Presbyterian). Their first child, Andrew Baird, was born in Culdaff, Carndonagh, on 11 November 1836. This has been verified by US records. The Bairds probably immigrated in 1844 and settled in Philadelphia. Moses and his brother settled in Brooklyn, New York. While they both probably married in the US, their wives were also born in Ireland. Moses married Rebecca Campbell. I think she was born 18 March 1836, in Carndonagh (address Collin). Her father was Joseph Campbell. I think he ended up in Brooklyn also, along with other children, one named Catherine. The Campbells may have been in Scotland for awhile. Alexander's wife was Jane McIntyre, unknown maiden name. The many records I have searched through show me several McIntyres (name variants) on the Inishowen Peninsula, and some with names that were given to descendants. I am trying hard to fins links somewhere!

Sorry you haven't had a response sooner but your people are quite elusive as you no doubt know!
The marriage record on www.rootsireland.ie/ is no help!!
Date of Marriage:31-Oct-1835
Parish / District:CARNDONAGH
County:Co. Donegal
Husband
WifeName:RobertBaird
McIntireAddress:
Denomination:Presbyterian
PresbyterianThere are no birth/baptisms for Cardonagh Presbyterean nefore 1851 on roots
Here are the only 2 for Elizabeth that fit with an 1835 marriage:
Name:Elizabeth McIntireDate of Birth:
Date of Baptism:05-May-1816Address:CarrowkeelParish/District:CLONDAVADDOGGender:FemaleCountyCo. Donegal
Denomination:Church Of Ireland
Father:John McIntireMother:Kitty GallagherName:Elizabeth McIntireDate of Birth:30-Oct-1817
Date of Baptism:02-Nov-1817Address:Not RecordedParish/District:MOVILLE UPPERGender:FemaleCountyCo. Donegal
Denomination:Church Of Ireland
Father:Nail McIntireMother:Jane Not RecordedHowever there are no other records for children with either of these parents!
Assuming the name Moses was handed down here is a later baptism from Cardonagh
Name:Moses McIntireDate of Birth:17-Nov-1860
Date of Baptism:14-Dec-1860Address:RedfordParish/District:CARNDONAGHGender:MaleCountyCo. Donegal
Denomination:Presbyterian
Father:William McIntireMother:Rosanne WallaceSurprisingly the marriage record of the parents has some detail:
Date of Marriage:20-Feb-1851
Parish / District:CARNDONAGH
County:Co. Donegal
Husband
WifeName:WilliamMcIntire
RosanneWallaceAddress:Tieumicruragh
RedfortDenomination:Presbyterian
PresbyterianOccupation:FARMER
Age:Full Age (Over 21)
Husband's Father
Wife's FatherName:JohnMcIntire
RobertWallaceAddress:
Occupation:FARMER
FARMEROf course the trail runs cold then as there is no record of birth/baptism of William with father John c 1830 in Donegal!!
Nothing for Alexander I'm afraid
Donegal records do not appear in the Irish Censuses (free online) until 1851; the Tithe Applotments (free online) have 3 McIntyres in Donegal in 1834 but there is no mention of Cardonagh or Culdaff.
Last suggestion other than dna testing is that the Irish phone book (www.118.ie/) has 5 McIntyres in Donegal; perhaps if you drop them a line one might be connected. (We have had success from this approach)

Thank you so much for your efforts. The religion thing can be so confusing. It took me months to figure out whether they were Roman Catholic or not. Would a Church of Ireland birth, such as the Elizabeth above, be recorded later as as a Presbyterian marriage? Several of the names you mention are found in Moses McIntyre's US descendants: William, Jane, John (my great grandfather), and Robert. I have tried the Irish naming thing so many ways, but have not been successful so far. Elusive is right! I do appreciate the Irish phone book reference. Some of the McIntyre cousins are gathering in May for our second annual "ancestor hunt" so we can work on that.
With appreciation,
Colleen I have tried DNA matching, both on 23andme and My Heritage, but no McIntyres yet. I did find a Campbell in the US, but we could not figure out where the relationship might be, other than Pennsylvania and Ireland.

Hi, I noticed your post, but since it's quite an old one, perhaps you're not on this board any longer. If you are, please contact me regarding
the Cambells in New York who came from Collin. I have Campbell ancestors who went to New York and went back to Collin before moving to Scotland.
There may be a connection between your tree and mine if we can work it out.
Regards
Annie

Oh yes please! I continue to pursue this periodically. I have one confirmed DNA relative who is a descendant of James Campbell and Lydia Wallace. I know that James and his wife were the parents of my great grandfather's cousins and some were in NY.
I so appreciate the chance to connect.
Thank you. Colleencz

You mention James Campbell and Lydia Wallace I found this about them:-
James Campbell b 1830 Collin died 16 July 1907 Collin
Married to Lydia Wallace 1839-1924 from Carn Donagh
Children :
Sarah Jane 1865-1938
Margaret Lydia 1867-1965
Rebecca 1870-1903
Robert Joseph 1870-1952
Samuel James 1870-1953
Annie Amelia 1875-1913
William George Witherold Campbell 1877-1927 married Sarah Sinclair b 1886 Scotland. They went to Kings, New York and had a son Colin 1912-1991 My ancestor William Campbell also went Kings.
John Cunningham Campbell 1879-1880 (Presbyterian Church) think this means he is buried there?
David Alexander Wallace Campbell 1882-1963
Albert Edward Graham Campbell 1885-1986
Maria Ann Fraser Campbell 1886-1920
==========================
You also mention Ann Campbell married Moses McIntyre. Her father Joseph Campbell. There was a Joseph Campbell, Carpenter, 142 Plymouth, Kings, N.York in a Street Directory, along with my Ancestor William Campbell in 1859. My ancestor William's father was Thomas Campbell who married Ann Cunningham from Collin. Their daughter Ann Campbell married Jaes Clingain in Carndonagh. Perhaps Moses was an uncle of William as they were both at the same address?
As you say, it's quite difficult to make the pieces fit but the clue can lie in seemingly random bits of information that tie up a couple of people and you have your link. It's a pity the records for Carndonagh are not great, but there seem to have been a large number of Campbells at Collin, so they will be related in some way.
I'm anniemcfar1@hotmail.com if you want to email me your thoughts on the above.
