    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Hope you are enjoying your trip.

I have searched www.irishgenealogy.ie and can not find any records (marriage or baptismal for children) for John Fitzgerald and Eliza Tatton. Do you have the 1832 marriage record and what was the RC parish name within the Diocese of Cork and Ross? Thanks!

  • Hello and thank you Roger for your quick response . I hav looked the above family up on Ancestry while back in Australia . My pencils and paper notes here indicate :FOR THE. APTISMS : PARISHES of Midleton  DIOCESE of CLOYNE- It says here in my notes , fathers residence : Park . I have also written Agahda beside the baptism of Jo Fitzgerald in 1840 . Maybe the parents moving around ? I hope this helps . Most grateful for your help . Di Fitzgerald .

OK. For the Diocese of Cloyne, you have to use Roots Ireland a subscription site and I did locate six baptismal records but the oldest one for Mary may be a different couple since the mother is shown as Margaret. In addition to the William and Margaret records below, there was an Ellen in 1844, Honora in 1848 and a twin to William, named Patrick. Did not see John and I also looked in Aghada.

There are two Park townlands for Midleton civil parish, Park North and Park South so likely the Fitzgeralds were from one of the two.

  • Thank you Roger . Yes I agree with you . The Margaret and Elizabeth are two different mothers .  Now my challenge is to find out where they lived in terms of the townland or indeed which church these children were baptised in . Do you think the Holy Roasry Church Catholic of Middleton would be a good bet ? I have looked up some old telephone directories on Middleton Past And Present Website and found both Fitzgerald's and Tattan families there listed in business.  This is the tricky bit getting right down to a specific place isn't it . Thank you most sincerely and any more snippets if you have time re  specific church would be excellent . Di Fitzgerald

Park North is about a kilomter or so northeast outside of the town of Midleton on the R627 road. Park South is southeast of the town. The question is which one? Use Google Maps.

Yes, I would try Holy Rosary.
