Hello, any information about my great-great-great grandparents James Mulrooney and his wife Mary Kelly from County Carlow would be most appreciated. Their daughter Mary Ann Mulrooney ( my great-great grandmother) immigrated to Australia and married a Richard or John Daley from County Wexford on the goldfields in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia in 1857. On her marriage certificate it said she was 21 years of age in 1857 making her birth date around 1836. It also said that her father James Mulrooney was a boatsman. I have found one Baptism record for Carlow being Parish of Bagenalstown, Dunleckney Registers 1836 for a Catherine Mulrooney who was the daughter of a James Mulrooney and Mary Kelly, but no record of a Mary Ann. Seems too big a coincidence. Could Catherine’s name have been changed to Mary Ann, I wonder? Maybe Catherine is her sister and there was no record of Mary Ann’s baptism? Thank you in anticipation for your help, kind regards, Therese

Hi Col, I think this is most certainly my great-great grandmother. Thank you so much, and also for your prompt reply. I am visiting Ireland in May and I will now be able to visit her birthplace. Many thanks Therese
