I’m looking for any information on my 5x g grandfather, his wife Mary and his son John. They were flax farmers who emigrated to New Jersey, USA before 1838

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I assume your ancestors were Roman Catholic and if so there are very few records in Co. Donegal prior to 1850. To be sure I searched for John's baptismal record but did not find a record.
McKeague was not a common surname in Ireland in the mid-19th century and was found in a few Ulster province counties including Donegal.
I did not find a record on the Tithe listings but going back to the Flax listings from 1796, there was a Joh McKeage in Templemore parish. Templemore is currently a parish in Co. Derry bordering Co. Donegal. This John coult have lived in Burt parish in Donegal which borders Templemore. Please consider this record as a lead.

I would add Daniel's story to our XO Chronicles site https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…
Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?

Thank you for your reply, the McKeagues from my family were Protestant and settled in New Jersey between 1825 and 1840.
There was a theory my family had that they were originally from Scotland. I found some records for Daniel McKeague in Scotland with a 1761 birth date which is accurate. Daniel always listed Ireland and country of origin in the NJ census
The appreciate your response to my post
