I am a descendant of Irish Immigrants and have been researching my family for decades. I am currently planning a trip to Ireland with some of my cousins - we are calling it our "Ancestor Tour".
We are in possession of several records that indicate our third great grandfather and siblings were baptized in your parish, although we are not 100% certain.
Our 3rd great grandfather's name was Peter Lettice (although it is spelled Lettus in several of the records after he arrived in America).
We know he was born 28 October 1818 and we know his father's name was Michael. His siblings were Patrick, Catherine, Andrew and James. His naturalization documents state that he came from Co Meath, but nothing further.
I have found several records that indicate possible family members in Castlejordan, and since the names were fairly similar to the other family names we are thinking this family is likely to be cousins.
We want very much to visit your area while we are in Ireland and I wonder if you could clarify what church (if it is still standing) might it be?
We also want to visit any cemeteries that may contain information and/or headstones for the burial of his parents or any other family members. Might there be a directory of some kind, or would there be an old cemetery that we could visit and see if we can find anything relevent?
We would be very grateful for any additional information you can provide, and we are looking forward to our visit in September!
