  • Hi Caroline, is Tom still alive? Let me know please.
There is one registered in New Ross, but you would have to get a copy of the cert. to continue searching.
You have to work backwards, ok

  • Tom passed away in 2000, in London, England.  He was married to my Aunt, Carmel Shortall.

  • Hi Caroline, Thanks for the update.
I see they married in England in 1955.
I see you have a tree in Ancestry, do you know anyone in Lancashire?
There is a tree with a lot of information with your Aunt and Tom.
In this tree it says that Tom's parents were Mary Bernadette Brady and Michael Duffin. I just looked and you have the same names.
This is their marriage, you are lucky as they married in 1917 and this is the latest year in this site.

in this 1901 Census you will find Michael aged 15

in 1911 his father had passed on in this Census

this is his fathers death in 1910

I can't get Mary as she was not at home with her father. too many Mary's as servents.

As you are in Ancestry, if you search with Duffin and spouse Shortall you will see the tree from a tree owner in Lancashire.
Most records are in Ancestry now, but if you see the 1901 or 1911 census, go to the Ireland census as it's free, not very detailed in Ancestry.
    if you search
tithe applotments ireland you can search for you family names and also search Griffiths Valuation it states the years and areas etc. All free.

The irishgenealogy site has mainly records from 1864 when the Civil records were introuduced in Ireland up to 1917, but keep watching as the site is updated all the time.
If you get really stuck, please ask and I will see if I can help.
