Hi,
I would like to enquire about the Holmes family of Limerick. Thanks to your website we found a marriage in Manister between John Holmes and Margaret Mangan (3/1/1835) with a witness James Holmes. Are there any more details available about these people, particularly if they emigrated to NSW or were convicts to Australia ?
If it helps, I am also related to the Connellans of Six Mile Bridge which is about 45km away from Manister and who came out to NSW.

Hi,
I know that John And Margaret had a daughter, Francis A Holmes born 1853 and a son John Holmes ( name may have really been Michael John), my great grandfather born 1854. Both were born in Lowville, NY. I am curious as to who James Holmes is. Is he John's brother or father and where did he wind up? Also, who is Timothy Managan, her father or brother and where did he wind up? I know that John Holmes was born in Limerick in 1808 and is buried in Constableville, NY in 1872.

John:
Normally, witnesses were siblings or friends of the bride and groom although certainly a father could stand-in as a witness.
