Hello! My name is John (Jack) Culhane. I live in Louisiana in the United States of America.
I recently had some work done by a professional genealogist in Ireland. It was determined that my Great Great Grandfather Timothy Culhane and his wife Bridget O'Mara /O'Meara lived in the town of Ballyneety. Their children, John (my Great Grandfather), Margaret, Patrick, Michael, Maria, Timothy and Catherine were all baptized at the Roman Catholic Church in Kilcolman and Coolcappa, County Limerick. All date around the 1840s. Timothy was born around 1815 and Bridget was born around 1817. The land records indicate the family lived in the townland of Ballyneety, Lot 3b. This family appears to have lived there until about 1911 under the names of Richard and Mary Culhane. I would love to connect with any family that may be still living in the area. Or at least find out if the house itself still exists. I looked at an overlay of previous land to present land and I believe the area traces to a big farm. I could be mistaken. But I would love to chat with anybody in the area that could provide more info. There seem to be a lot of Culhanes from this area. My family comes from New York where my Great Grandfather had moved to in the 1860s. I am just starting research on his siblings. I know Margaret also went to New York.
