My great-grandmother Margaret Quigley was baptised, Ballyphilip/Ballycahill, Silvermines, 26 Dec 1843.Her father was Thady Quigley, and mother Mary Tracey, Sponsors were Edmund and Bridget Quigley.
Margaret Quigly/Quigley, wed Patrick Kennedy, 6 May 1864, Sponsors Rhody Kennedy and Michael Quigley. Patrick’s father is listed as Matthew Kennedy, and Margaret’s father as Thaddeus Quigley.
Ten children were born to this couple in Co Limerick, seven of whom were alive in 1911.
Matthew 1865, Mary 1867, Bridget 1869, Timothy 1872, Margaret 1874, Julia 1877, Kate 1879, Hanora 1882, Ann 1885 and Patrick 1890.
The first born children are named after their grandparents, Matthew, Mary, and Timothy.
Census records state both parents were born in Co Tipperary, but not where Patrick Kennedy was born in Tipperary. Patrick’s father was named Matthew, Rhody was probably his brother. baptismal sponsors for the children list a Bridget Kennedy (sp Mary 1867), and a Bridget Kennedy (sp Timothy 1872).
I have failed to find a baptismal record for Patrick Kennedy (Snr) in Tipperary. His father was Matthew Kennedy, his mother maybe Bridget, probably a brother Rhody and a sister Bridget. Patrick’s age is given as 60 in 1901 (1841) and 74 in 1911 (1837).
I have have run out of options - any leads would be greatly appreciated.

EllenSophia:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The RC baptismal records for Silvermines parish start in November 1840. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0798
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a record for Patrick Kennedy in Silvermines with father Matthew. I did find an 1843 record for a Roderick Kennedy with father Matthew and mother Mary Hogan. See below. There was also an 1841 baptismal record for a Judith Kennedy with the same parents. It appears Patrick was born before November 1840 so no record is available.

Roger,
Thank you so much for your speedy reply. Not an easy task, with so many Kennedy families in Tipperary. We know the Quigley family were from the Ballycahill/Ballyphilip area, the Kennedy family must have been nearby or in a neighbouring parish.
I think the 1911 census is the most accurate. Patrick Kennedy born between 1836-38, depending on the month of birth.
I had another look at the list of sponsors and see a Julia Kennedy was a sponsor to Hanora Kennedy 1882.
My grandmother Ann Kennedy died when my Dad was 4 yrs – his father re-married. Dad had very little information on his Kennedy relatives, said that his Uncle Matthew Kennedy had an Uncle Roady(sic), Birdhill (Tipp) and on another occasion he said Newport (Tipp).
Thank you so much for taking an interest.

Hi EllenSophia,
The Marriage was the 5th June in the Church, last entry on the right hand side of the page.
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634750#page/169/mode/1upMatthew Kennedy in the Tithe records, the nearest to Silvermines
There are 2 other Matthew’s but they are north of Thurles.
The marriage image is not on line but matching the record listed to Margaret Quigley it is "Returns page number 512" in Nenagh. (after 1864 Nenagh was the registration town for that area)
If you have a copy it would say where he was living at the time of the marriage.
you can get a photo copy using this link it's 4 Euros.

Thanks Margot for the leads. I have looked at the Tithe records and saved them for future reference. I must compare them with Griffith’s valuation to find out where they are on the map.
I have the 1864 civil marriage record. Patrick’s address is given as Pallaskenry, Co. Limerick. This is where he and Margaret raised their family.
I live in hope of finding 1830-40s baptismal records for Matthew Kennedy’s family of Patrick, Roady, Bridget and Julia, which may be conjecture on my part.
I am very grateful to you for taking the time to be of assistance to me.

Roger, Margot.
Based on your most useful leads, I found Tithe Applotments, Baravie (Martin Kennedy) and on Griffiths Valuation, Ballyphilip (Michael Quigley Plot 4), Barravie (Matthew Kennedy Plot 6).
Rody Kennedy (1843-1918) Barravie, Capparoe, wed Jane Kennedy 1866. Twelve children were born – seven were living 1911 census.
I will apply for their 1866 marriage cert and report back. Thanks to your assistance, I feel that I have the correct family. I would not have found them without your help, I have been searching sporadically since 2000, since we received the Quigley information from the Tipperary ancestry in Nenagh.
As both my great grandparents’ funerals returned to Tipperary, I would imagine they are interred in the local Kilmore graveyard.

Hi EllenSpohia,
I am going to go to Kilmore in July 2019, my Kennedy family were from the area.
Kilkeary is another buriel place for Kennedy's from Silvermines.
For BDM use this after 1864, as I said not all images are on line.
https://www.irishgenealogy.ieKilmore grave yard (24 pages, when you see a Kennedy, remember the page number, as you view the picture and return it takes you back to page 1 again, so remember the page number)
https://historicgraves.com/graveyard/kilmore/tn-klmr
I have just searched Kilkeary and noticed this.......see the link. I have been asking for this for about 8 years, it doesn't say when it went on line and I know it's new.

Attached 1866 marriage Cert Rody Kennedy and Mary Moore, Toomevara.
As this Rody's father is named William, he cannot be related to our family.
The 1873 Silvermines marriage of Rody Kennedy, Tinnerana and Jane Kennelly,Silvermines, could be a possibility, as this Rody's father is named Matthew,
There is reference to a Kennedy, Capparoe headstone at B Vol 7 Parish Kilnaneave graveyard.
Thank you both, Roger and Margot for you help with this.

Hi Margot,
Thank you for the update. I did wonder about a present day Kennedy family, at Barravie, and see on Google maps sight of a very old residence in the farm yard. This is not too far from Buddy's bar, so we may pay a visit to the area, maybe July/Aug 2019. let me know if you are home in Tipp around then.
I had another look at my great grandmother's marriage cert, Margaret Quigley, 1864, I hadn't noticed previously that she is listed as a minor, which would account for so many births over along number of years.
