Julia Brislane in north Cork

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a baptismal record for Julia. I did find a record for a Jeremiah Breslan in 1835 which may be a brother. I also noted that the Milford/Freemount RC parish has a gap in their baptismal records from April 1840 to July 1843  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0052   I don't know how old Julia was when married but if she was in her late teens then possibly the record is not available.

Thanks Roger for the information. I was unaware that Milford/Freemount had a gap in it's baptismal records. Do you know if that is a gap in the parish records or only in the digital records. If it is only in the digital records, I could make another trip to Milford. If it is in the parish records, then I will have to look more closely at substitute records. I had looked at Roots Ireland and been in Mallow at the Heritage center, but came up empty as you did. Since WIlliam and Julia married in May of 1860, 1840 would be right around 19 or 20. I do not know her age at the time. The marriage records do not show her age or the first names of I should find at least a record of baptism, if she were married in her later teen years. That is interesting with Jeremiah. There is a Jeremiah among my g-grandfather's siblings. I always wondered where that name came from. The Irish Naming Rule has been a help, but Jeremiah was a name that I could not place on the Kenny side of the family. I was in Liscarroll once, but I was not able to spend any time with any of the Birslanes there. I will have to put some more leg work into it. Thanks again ever so much.

Sorry about the unfinished sentence in the middle of te pragraph. The sentence “The marriage records do not show her age or the first names of I should find at least ....“ should read „The marriage records do not show her age or the first names of the parents. I would suspect that the gap is in the parish records which were microfilmed by the NLI in the early 1950s and then digitized a few years ago. You may want to check with the parish.
