I am searching for living relatives of Timothy Driscoll 1800 - ? and his wife Mary Driscoll (Maiden name) 1805 - ?. This couple had many children, pre the Irish Potato Famine, during the famine and post the famine. It looks like many of the children did not survive the famine. My great grandfather, Jeremiah 1835 Skibbereen - 1911 Western Australia did. Jeremiah married Catherine Carey in Castletownshend (Castlehaven Parish) in 1868. Their oldest child, Timothy was born later in that year in Skibbereen. The following year this family voyaged to Western Australia at the invitation of Jeremiah's sister, Johannah 1845 Skibbereen - 1888 Western Australia, who had voyaged there in 1866 and married a Scottish convict by the name of James McClymans. Another three siblings are known to have survived into adulthood. Two lived in Skibbereen in Chapel Lane. Unfortunately for research purpose, they were a spinster and a bachelor, respectively. Their names were Catherine 22 Dec 1839 Skibbereen - 03 Dec 1909 Skibbereen and Patrick Driscoll 18 Mar 1855 Skibbereen - 22 Dec 1914 Skibbereen. Patrick's burial site has been tracked to the graveyard at the site of the old church ruins of Tullagh, near Baltimore. This has given us a clue as to the origins of the Patriarch (see above), Timothy. It seems the family roots extend back to the immediate area around Baltimore. The first family farm named in Western Australia is called "Baltimore" and it gives weight to the theory that the family identified with Baltimore, even though the family lived in and around Skibbereen.

The third surviving child is Michael Driscoll 19 Sep 1852 Skibbereen - 14 Nov 1906 Cork City. Michael married a Cork City girl by the name of Mary Thompson. They had many children and lived in the immediate vicinity to St Finbarr's Church in South Cork (City). There are scores of birth, marriage and death entries in this area, as many of the children and the families they married into, lived in this small neighbourhood. In all probability, there are relatives still in this area today.

I have written a comprehensive story of our family (Ireland and Australia) on the web and it can be found by googling my particulars and those of my great grandparents. Google Thomas Philip O'Driscoll,Collie, Western Australia, Jeremiah and Catherine (Carey) O'Driscoll Skibbereen, County Cork, Ireland. With this information you should be able to source and then read the article or parts that interest you.

I would love to hear from anyone that can shed any more light on my story and moreso if you are related in any way.

Regards,
