Hi Adrian,
There is only one baptism for an Edward Browne in Cork before 1849-Name: Edward Browne
Date of Baptism: 03-Nov-1839
Parish/District: CHARLEVILLE
Gender: Male County Co. Cork
Denomination: Roman Catholic
Father: Michael Browne Mother: Johanna Keating

Informant 1: Richard Win
Sponsor 2 /
Informant 2: Catherine LynchHowever this would make him only ten when he immigrated??
His siblings included Daniel (16 April 1833), Mary (6 Jan 1836) and Michael (28 Sep 1841). His parents Michael and Johanna married on 12 Jan 1831. He was from Rathkeal, Limerick and she was from the Glen, Charleville. Witnesses we're William Stanton and Hanora Dee.Does it suit that Edward could have immigrated as a child with his parents or another relation? There are no deaths for Michael or Johanna Brown in Cork so perhaps the whole family left. Do any of the names of his children match with siblings or parents? If you think this is him I could probably find additional information on Michael and Johanna.
Hope some of this helps!

Adrian:
www.irishgenealogy.ie is a free site which has the RC church records for the south and west of Co. Cork ( Diocese of Cork and Ross) and there are a number of Edward or Edmond Brown baptismal records including Edward Browns baptized in 1833 and 1834. Parents names are key to determining if we can find a baptismal record. Also, can you confirm if his religion was RC?

Dear Alicia,
Thank you for posting this information. Unfortunately this does not seem to be my Edward. His death Certificate shows that he was born in 1829. Regards, adrian

Hi Roger,
From Edward's Death Certificate I estimate that he was born in 1829.
I did a search on the RootsIreland site and found one Edward Brown that may fit form the parish of East Schull.
Is there an easier way of searching the www.irishgenealogy.ie site other than by going through each parish?
Many thanks,
Adrian

Adrian:
The site is fairly easy to use for search purposes. Go to the search fields on the left hand side. Show your name, county and years for searching. Once you get a response, you can further narrow down by showing another name. You can also click the diocese button and search by parish.

Is it possible that someone who was arrested in Cork - e.g. Edward Brown - could have finished up London and the Hackney Refuge for Destitutes?
