George CRISPIN married Ellen CALANAN 9 Dec 1812 in Clonakilty (witnesses Charles CALANAN and Maria CRISPIN). They had four known children, all baptised in Clonakilty: Charles (1814), George (1821), Elizabeth (1823) and Ellen (1826). Some time before 1841 the family moved to England - they are on the 1841 Census in Lambeth where George is listed as a weaver aged 63 and Ellen is aged 51, with the four children. If accurate, this gives approximate birth years for George CRISPIN 1778 and Ellen CALANAN 1790. George died in 1852 aged 83, but Ellen is shown on the 1851 census as aged 65 and her death in 1855 gives her age as 60, so her birth could be c1785-95.
There is a Clonakilty marriage in 1817 between Thadaeus CALANAN and Eliza CRISPIN, along with several other CRISPIN and CALANAN marriages which I suspect may be relatives. However, I have not yet found any evidence for George and Ellen's parents and siblings. If anyone can give me any leads I would be most grateful.

Philip:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The RC records for Clonakilty start in 1809 so there would be no baptismal records available for George and Ellen. I also searched the Tithe records for Kilgarriff civil parish but did not locate any Crispin or Calanan records.

Roger - thank you so much for replying.
I thought it would be a long-shot - as with other of my Irish ancestors, a paper trail is hard to find. Thank you for confirming the start of Clonakilty PRs - that is news to me.
All the best
