Here is a link to the RC parish register from 1828-1880  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0051   These records are on the subscription site Roots Ireland but when I search for Terence, I don't find a record. All of the nearby RC parishes have records starting before 1840. Roots Ireland also has the Fermoy Church of Ireland records back to 1822. I also expanded the search beyond Cork to the rest of Ireland with no success.  I did find an 1829 baptismal record for a Matthew Butler with the correct parents.

Thanks for the response. I had searched the registers and rootsireland.ie and was unable to find any record of Terence's birth. I had found the birth of Matthew some time ago also but can't be sure that this is the correct family. With my recent discovery of Terence's birth in Fermoy my hope was that perhaps some records existed locally and had not been transcribed. I have had my brother do the yDNA test also but so far nothing has shown up. Perhaps one day....

I would recommend that you take an autosomal DNA test which will provide you with matches on your maternal and paternal sides. The Y-test goes back 200+ years and does not give matches in the 19th century.  Family Tree DNA calls this test Family Finder.

Thanks Roger. I and cousins on both sides of the family have done autosomal testing but have not found good matches.
