I am tracing my ancestors Robert Gilmore born 22 Aug 1831 and died 1907 in Ballymoney, Co. Antrim. He married Annie McIlroy 1858. I have traced the names of their 13 children and I havequite a lot for the McIlroy ancestors but I wish to find out more about Robert Gilmore's father who was Matthew Gilmour/Gilmore. Matthew's name is on Robert's Baptism and Mge but no mother's name. I believe they are buried in the Knock Rd Cemetery. Does anyone have details of any headstones for them please. Robert and Samuel Gilmore were in Bassetts Book 1888 listed as farmers in Drunkendult. Any help would be most appreciated. bubble shooter

Park’s 1817 census of Ballymoney doesn’t list any Gilmore farms in Drunkendult. The only Gilmour/Gilmore family in that census was in Dunaghy. (William & Isabella plus 6 children.) No Mathew Gilmour mentioned at all. The 1825 tithe applotment records for Ballymoney parish don’t list any Gilmore farms in Drunkendelt then, suggesting the family acquired their farms after that year.

The 1858 marriage in Aghadowey Presbyterian church gives Robert’s townland as Kidstown. So he evidently acquired the Drunkendult farm after that. (And it could suggest the early family graveyard might be in Aghadowey parish).
Griffiths Valuation shows Robert Gilmore on plot 3a in Drunkendult East in 1861. That was a 52 acre farm. There’s no Mathew in Griffiths in either Aghadowey parish or Ballymoney, mentioned suggesting he had died before 1861.
Noted this probate abstract on the PRONI wills site (full file is in PRONI):
Gilmore Matthew Brown of Drunkendult Ballymoney county Antrim farmer died 19 February 1940 Administration Belfast 8 March to Robert McIlroy Gilmore investigating officer ministry of labour. Effects £1250.

Very sad to hear this news. So heartbreaking to see such sight that Mr. Gilmore is no more with us. I met her daughter in 2006, God bless this lady. May their soul rest in peace and all their deeds would make them help to reach the levels in paradise. Our whole team of cheap essay wishes condolences to Mr. Gilmore family.
