McEneany/McEntegart

Hi Susi, I searched Roots Ireland for the marriage and there is no marriage recorded, as Haggardstown has church records for this period I can only assume the marriage took place as per custom in the brides parish which does not have records for this period, from a previous query some nearby parishes do not have records for this period. You can see the various available records here https://registers.nli.ie/ Darver records do not start until 1837 for marriages.

Interestingly there is marriage in 1829 in Clones of a James McEneany from Dromiskin, beside Haggardstown while Clones is about 40 miles away to a Rose McKernan although to my reading the McKernan appears to be a mistranscription but I cannot do any better, the date is 25th January, there is also a marriage in Haggardstown in of an Allice McEnteggart to a Smyth in 1847, both are only interersting as they might be relatives. 

I saw two of the births John and James probably first and last, did not look further as the spellings may be different but was hoping the sponsors might assist in where the person was from etc.

In case you are not aware the name McEnteggart is Gaelic language for "Son of the Priest"

There is site for Louth here and you may pick up some information there, also the Wildgoose Lodge murders which is told on the site, which occurred in the general area about 15 years previously. http://www.jbhall.freeservers.com/

Griffiths Valuation was done for Louth by 1854 and there are a number of McEnteggart or similiar around the place nearby including Roche and others in case you want to an estimate of where seh was from, see http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=nameS… if you are uncertain of the areas although there are maps on the Griffiths site you can gete a better view of locations here https://www.townlands.ie/

Finally there is a Louth Genealogy Facebook page but while helpful at times there is a quick turnover of queries as you loose top spot as another one comes in.
