My great grandfather returned from Glasgow to Donegal where he was buried. Family lore is that he was buried in Glenties. I have recently found death certificate in that lists place of death as something that looks like 'Diveglassen". Any suggestion of place, street address that might be similar? Think this would have been around 1915, Peter/Patrick Gallagher. Thank you for any assistance or advice. Maggie

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I can't tell if you have the death certificate or not. Can you share?
I did search the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie for death certificates for Patrick or Peter Gallagher from 1913-1917 in the Glenties registration district. Nine records came up but none had a townland close in spelling to Diveglassen. I also searched the townland data base and did not see a townland name close to Diveglassen.

Roger,
The death certificate was from a Mormon data base, information provided not document itself. He was born abt 1846 in Donegal, pretty sure his name was Peter. He was married to Margaret O'Donnell. His parents may have been Frederick and Bridget Gallagher. My grandmother his daughter said he was born in Termon. Maybe this will help narrow down the death certificates you found. Thank you so much for your assistance. Maggie

I located a 1915 record for a Peter Gallagher who died in the asylum in Letterkenny but the record said he was from Glenties.

I looked at every Peter Gallagher death from 1910-1920 in Co. Donegal and the above record is the best match.

Thank you so much for finding this. The name, age, that he was from Glenties all match. The cause of death however makes it very likely it is my great grandfather. Aortic heart disease has continued in the family. My mother often spoke of spending summers in Donegal with family when she was a child, this will give me an area to explore. You have been incredably helpful and I will continue to use the message board to help me in my research
