I am descendant of Denis and Ellen Regan who were married 29 Jul 1794. (I have this documentation) And also that they baptized my ancestor, son, Cornelius on 17 May 1795 (also have this documentation). Can you tell me if they had any more children other than Cornelius?

There is talk of a brother Jeremiah in 1818 (that I have many common DNA matches with) but I am wondering if Jerimiah was cornelius' cousin instead.

I also have a large number of DNA matches with McCarthy's* from Cork and I think that Cornelius may had had a brother or sister who married a McCarthy during the early 1800's who come to USA in early 1900s

* Please note these McCarthys I am asking about are not from the McCarthy's union of Cornelius's son. Cornelius who married Hanora McCarthy around 1850 in East Schull and had children Cornelius, Michael and Johanna.

Any info you can provide about the children of Dennis and Ellen, or confirm the parents of Jerimiah Regan, or a Regan-McCarthy connection in the early 1800's generation is greatly appreciated.

    Not much luck on www.rootsireland.ie/ but the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie/ - church records option has this one:

    roots has 23 Regan - McCarthy marraiges in Cork starting 1809; marriages were usually in the bride's parish so the recotrd would not necessarily be from Bandon.

  • Thank you Col!  That would be my Denis and Ellen and Cornelius.  And thank you for the info on Jerimiah and the McCarthy/Regan's.  I will start reviewing them now!
