Searching for the family of great grandmother, Margaret Burke Tighe, born about 1854 to Michael Burke and Bridget Daude Burke, baptized in Tynagh (Clonfert?) in County Galway. Margaret emigrated to U.S. about 1872 and married Martin Tighe in Scranton, PA about 1875; died in 1926 in Scranton. Any information on her family is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a baptismal record for Margaret with the parents listed. Roots Ireland has the Tynagh baptismal records back to 1816. However, the Clonfert RC records do not start until the 1880s. So if she was baptized in Clonfert a record would not exist. I also did not find a marriage record.
I looked at the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listings for the civil parishes corresponding to Clonfert RC but did not see a Michael Burke record.
Any other clues on the family? Did Margaret have any younger siblings born 1864 or later where we could possibly locate a civil birth record?

Hi KT- Griffiths Valuation c.1850 shows a Michael Burke living in Killeen South,Tynagh. I have not been able to locate any baptismal records for children of Michael * Bridget. "Daude"- could that possibly be "Dowd".?? Tynagh is a parish of Clonfert Diocese. East Galway Family History Society may be able to help you further, their e-mail is galwayroots@gmail.com.-

Another possible Burke connection...
Margaret Burke was married to ggf Martin Tighe, whose parents were James Tighe and Mary BURKE! I found a Catholic birth/death record through findmypast.com for Mary Burke - born 1804 and died 1864, Ballina in County Mayo. It's another set of crumbs on the trail...while I still try to pinpoint whether James Tighe and Mary Burke had any other children other than Martin, who was born abt. 1840-42 and emigrated to America 1863.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
