Hello,

I'm looking for information about the family of my second great grandfather William Hanlon (Born in Donaghmore 15 April 1833 and died in Cardiff Wales 11 June 1891).

He was from the townland of Pluckanes, Donaghmore and he left to go to Wales and from there I know his story. I believe his parents were Michael Hanlon and Mary Helan/Helon/Helane and that his siblings were :

Ellen (1828-)

Elizabeth (1831-)

Catherine (1835-)

Mary (1838-)

Timothy (1842-)

Johanna (1844-)

Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

    In addition to the six siblings listed in your message, the subscription site Roots Ireland has a Michael Hanlon in 1826 and a second Mary in 1846 so presumably the 1838 Mary died young. Roots Ireland also had a February 1925 marriage reocrd for the parents.

    The 1833 Tithe listing for Donaghmore parish shows a number of Hanlons in Pluckanes but no Michael.  http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?…

    The 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Donaghmore civil parish  https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/cork/donaghmore.htm  does not show a Michael Hanlon in Pluckanes. There is a Timothy and John Hanlon in Pluckanes possibly relatives of Michael. There was a Michael Hanlon in Garraun North.

    That's actually very helpful that you found the son Michael that I missed somehow and because I didn't find him, I was worried I didn't have the right family. Now looking at the Irish naming traditions along with the dates etc, I'm more convinced. There's a text on Donoughmore/Donaghmore that was published locally in Cork in 2010 I'm interested in and I am flying over to Boston next week and I know in the genealogical library there that they have a copy. I may find more information in there. Hoping!
