I'm searching for the ancestral family of John J Leahy. He emigrated to the Boston, Mass area circa 1867. His parents may have been Mary Ellen Murphy, born 1825 and Darby Leahy, born 1824.
Any info or leads would be more than appreciated. He has quite a few direct descendants in America who are searching for their family in Ireland.

Hi Ellie,
Just got email from Jane - Ellie, you say John's parents MAY have been Mary Ellen Murphy, born 1825 and Darby Leahy, born 1824, on a scale of 1 - 10 how accurate do you this this is?? did a few quick searches with these names and no joy on any of them.
Also, do you have an address of where they lived in Youghal - any little bit of information would be a great help from this end.
looking forward to hearing from you
Kind regards

Hi Phyl,
Thank you for your kind reply. I do not know where the Leahy family lived. I have a photo copy of John Leahy’s naturalization paper which only mentions Yougal, Cork. I will try to add. The marriage record in Waltham, Masssachusettts, gives Darby Leahy as his father and Ellen? as his mother. She may have been Ellen Flynn and Ellen Murphy May have been his mother?
Darby may be from Ballintemple if that helps. I’m very confused about the Johns, the Ellen’s and the Mary’s..... as are many people. One sure thing is I have a DNA match with second cousins in Waltham, Ma. Their grandmother and my grandfather are the children of John Joseph Leahy.

PS How does one add an attachment onto the posts? I am old and not too computer savvy.

Greetings Ellie from a dull day here in Ireland
Ballintemple is a suburb of Cork City which is approx 30 miles from the town of Youghal.
Our parish here in Youghal records only began approx. mid 1800’s with very little info in them and Irish civil registration did not begin until 1864,
Will keep trying for you.
