Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on two different sites Roots Ireland (subscription) and the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie and there were no Timothy Pierce baptismal records from 1845-1860 in Co. Cork. More than likely he was from another county and left from Queenstown Co. Cork. Do you know his parents names which will allow us to search for his baptismal record across Ireland.

Timothy’s father was Garret who was 39 at Tim’s birth. His mother was Mary Lawlor Pierce age 34 at Tim’ s birth. I hope this helps.

Chuck:
I searched on Roots Ireland and also another subscription site FindMyPast and had no luck. In fact no baptismal records for any children of a Garrett Pierce and a wife with the surname Lawlor.
I did find an 1852 record for a Margaret Pierse father Garrett and mother Mary Pierse in Belfast. See below. I also found an 1857 record for a Thomas Pierce in Co. Derry with father Garrett and mother Mary Reilly. So if Lawlor was not the correct surname for the mother, this record may be a possibility. See below.
www.irishgenealogy.ie is currently down but when the site is restored, I will check that site also.

Roger it appears that Timothy’s father was born in Kerry county. Maybe Tim was born there instead of Cork. Can you check church records there??

Chuck:
I checked the Kerry records. They are on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie There is a Timothy Pierce baptismal record in 1831 and another in 1841. Neither record showed the father as Garrett.

Thank you very much Roger. I will try and contact my cousin as where he is getting his information. Hopefully I can get some clues as to his info. I know Tim was born in Ireland but where and when seems to be the big mystery. Tim got married in the states and raised a big family. I have pictures of him and his wife as well as his tombstone I would like to share.
Thanks again

Hi Roger, Chuck Hill again. I have found that Timothy Pierce had a brother John who was born about 1847 in Ireland. I believe I mentioned that Tim's father 's name was Garrett but it appears it was Edward. Tim and John both came to the US and his mother Mary Lawlor also came. Mary died in Chicago in 1896 at the age of 86. Ironically both Tim and John are buried in the same cemetery as well as Mary in Chicago. Again this new info came from death certificates and census information. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
I have pictures of Mary, Timothy and his wife which I will be posting on the web site with a story about each of them.
The information you sent me on Daniel O'Leary gave me the baptisimal information but do you know waht church he was baptized in??

Chuck:
You may want to look at the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie (Church Record TAB) I see a possible family in the RC parish of Casueway/Killury but I did not find a baptismal record for Timothy .
I did find baptismal records for children of Edward Pierce and Mary Lawlor as follows: Gerald 1835 John 1840 Martin 1844 Joanna 1846 Edward 1849 (likely died young) Edward 1852
The family lived in Dromatour/Droumatour. I was not able to find a Dromatour in that area of Kerry (northwest).
You mention a record for Daniel O'Leary. Was that a different message?

First, thanks again for this information. Ironically you have a baptism record of 1840 and the date of birth on his death certificate was 1847. I have the Irish gave approximate dates of their birth. Oh well. I’m sure this is the correct John.
The Daniel O’Leary question was a different post. It was Daniel O’Leary and Mary Higgins from County Cork. They were the parents of my Grandmother.
We are celebrating Labor Day in the US and I wish you happy Labor Day in Ireland

Chuck:
The baptism for Daniel O'Leary occurred in this church http://www.corkpastandpresent.ie/history/irishbuilder/saintpatrickschurchfermoy/ or in a nearby chapel and the records were provided to St. Patricks.

As we say down south Well Shut My Mouth!!!!. Actually I am from Chicago originally and moved to NC in 1988. Again thanks for all of your help. I know my cousins will appreciate all of the help. Now I have to find more on the the elusive Timothy other than his picture.

'Roger, this Chuck Hill again. Chasing the Pierce"s is like herding cats. First I now believe Timothy was born in the States and not Ireland. It appears Tim had a brother nomed John who happens to be buried in same cemetery. I found a record of imigation for Edward Pierce and Mary Pierce on the ship Silas Grimshaw from Liverpool and arriving in New York on May 2, 1849. It lists that Edward was a farmer. which means the potato famine probably cost him his farm. It also has the names of his children as Thomas age 10,Henry age 9,Edward age 7, John age 5, and William age 4.
If the ship landed in 1849 and all of the "birthdates" we have on Tim are 1850,1852,and 1854. he wasn't born in Ireland. Now you sent me baptismal records for Edward and Mary's kids which stated Gerald 1835 John 1840 Martin 1844 Joanna 1846 Edward 1849 and Edward 1852. First, I couldn't find these records on Irishgenealogy.ie, under Church Records so could you check again because it doesn't match the ship records.
Finally I did find a baptismal record for Edward(father) and 2 for Mary Lawlor (mother) which were a year apart. all of these records come close to the death records we have here at the cemetery. The ship record comes closer to John's record and we have Edward's (son) death record that comes close to his ship record.
Thanks again for all of your work on this project.
