My 3x great grandfather Patrick MCasey was born in Ireland around 1780 and died in 1864 in Pennsylvania. The only record I have of where he came from in Ireland is a headstone put up well after his death and says Dunally, Cork, Ireland. Can't find a Dunally and was not sure even about the County Cork. However some of my DNA is coming back located around Cork so maybe there is something to that after all. Since around 1920 the family has used Casey but all records from 1850 to around 1920 they used McAsey (or some variation of that spelling). Any suggestion on where I can start looking In Irish records? I can't even find info about the McAsey name. I have had luck on my Larkin line in County Mayo so hoping for some ideas here. Thanks so much for any suggestions.

Wife was Catherine, Children all born in Ireland who made it to the US - Thomas, Michael James, Anne, Patrick; born 1814 to 1833 so assume there are some others as well.

Ah Miriam - you are finding all my problems! No, I have not been to the cemetery but the is a local geneolgy page that also has transcriptions and they read it the same way. http://www.joycetice.com/cemb/ridgcat4.htm Carlow would not surprise me too much - my grandfather claimed that when he was younger however he was raised in an orphange from when he was 9ish so his memory ot his grand parents is a bit suspect. No death certificates in Pennsylvania until 1906 so I do not have any death records for either Patrick or Catherine or any of the sons - just wills/probate records and graves. I have a death certificate for Anne but no mother's name at all. Best guess on emigration is 1845 but that is from 1900 census record so again suspect. I have not found any baptismal records yet - they were not online when I started (and I don't think that all of Cork is online yet and unfortunately a trip to Ireland is not in my immediate future) and without a county at least it is a bit overwhelming. I was hoping for some more focus before I tried to dig in. Thanks for the suggestions and looking things up.
