Fitzgerald in Aghada

Hi Miriam, 

Thank you for your help.  I have gone through the microfilm from Aghada many times and cannot find a thing  Do you think that his fathers name could be wrong? There is a Jeremiah with different parents that seems to fit both the area and the timeline and  I also have come across  a death certificate for Bridget Barry Fitzgerald that possibly fits all my criteria except for parents names. Just hoping I’m not researching the wrong Fitzgerald/Barry line. Thanks again Miriam, I will continue to research what I can but feel I’ve hit a brick wall.

Thanks for all your incite.  I have found a possible death record for Jeremiah but it’s a church record and no helpful information, death certificates weren’t available then. I found Jeremiah and Bridget with their children except one daughter on a 1880 US Census in Philadelphia.I have tried looking up sponsors but just can’t establish a connection. I have tried looking for the death of their daughter in Ireland/US but to no avail.  I feel without an address, siblings or parents of Jeremiah and/or Bridget I am stuck  I’ve tried family trees and every website I can find.  Feeling defeated but I will continue to search  Thanks again, you’ve made me realize I am definitely searching all the correct avenues.

This is a new entry but I would like to keep it under heading of Fitzgerald of Aghada, Cork.

I am seeking information on Garrett Fitzgerald who married Margaret Wall.  They had several children including two sons, James and John.  I descend from John Fitzgerald who married Margaret Dolan.  They had 3 sons, James (b. Aghada, Co Cork 1819) (d. Broken Hill, NSW 1887), John and Garrett who were baptised in Aghada, Co. Cork.  The family of John Fitzgerald and Anastasia Sullivan migrated to South Australia with a child who died on the journey to South Australia.  Garrett also died on the voyage to South Australia. Sad times for both families.  Any information regarding Garrett Fitzgerald and Margaret Wall or James Fitzgerald and Margaret Dolan would be appreciated.  Regards, Tricia Engler (nee Keogh)
