Looking for Jane McBride family who married Samuel Fisher

OMG!! I can't thank you enough for taking the time to find this for me. I went to the Epic centre in Dublin a couple of weeks ago before I come back to Australia (I wish I would have contacted this site first!! They said there was nothing they could help me with) . I thought I was at a dead end (I didn't think to look Northern Ireland as it was all just Ireland back in the day) and you have made my day, very much appreciated. I am guessing but I guess the child that died was the little boy John - Thank you for giving him a name. (This has now encouraged me to seek more advice on this website in regards to the rest of this family that I can't find. ) Again Thanks & Regards Michelle Borserio

Quick question also?? TheParish: First Derry that the little one was baptised in would this have meant that they attended this church ?? As it was their parish?? Thank you Michelle 

Tradition was to marry in the bride’s church after which she would usually attend her husband’s. So on the face of it, Jane was Church of Ireland (Anglican) and they married in St Columb’s Cathedral which is the main church for the city. The note saying Jane was “of All Saints” suggests that she normally attended that church (also Church of Ireland) but for some reason had decided to marry in St Columb’s. All Saints is still a functioning church:

All Saints is on one side of the River Foyle (in the Waterside district) and St Columb’s on the other (in the city centre).

The baptism was in 1st Derry Presbyterian church so that suggests Samuel was Presbyterian and they were now attending his church. 1st Derry Presbyterian is still in use today:

Being Presbyterian and living in Co Derry points to the Fisher family being of Scots origins. They would likely have settled in the area, from Scotland, in the 1600s.

Presbyterianism was established in Scotland in the mid 1500s by John Knox.  It arrived in Ireland in the early 1600s the Scots settlers.  No “native Irish” were Presbyterian before that. Some incomers to Ireland such as Huguenots refugees from France in the late 1600s adopted Presbyterianism (because it was very similar to their own Calvinist views) but in general if you find a Presbyterian living in Ireland, especially one with a Scottish surname and living in the counties of Ulster, then they are usually descended from Scottish ancestors.

Dear Robert, Firstly I want to thank you ever so much for taking the time to contact me.

I am the Great/g/g/grand daughter Of Jane & Samuel.

I have taken the time to write to you on Family Search & once in a blue moon I go on there as I assisted a lady on there with another part of my Family.

I have put my email in there in the email I sent through there as I always find this easier.

I am speachless as James in the one man I could not find anything on. Trust me I am over the moon!!!!

As explained in the letter in Family search I have researched ever aspect I could with these but still didn't have all the answer. I do know a lot more now & quite sad some aspects.

There was no one who was researching my mum or dads side (which I find sad) I am thorough with my work. I was even in Ireland last year seeking answers to no avail.

Hoping to hear from you at some stage & I would love to know more about this family - If this is okay??
