GRGRGrandma Catherine Burney(spelling variations) married Wm McCain(spelling variations) with son Wm B came to Philadelphia,Pennsylvania abt 1837 since a daughter Catherine born on the sea. Family listed in 1840/1850 census as McKean...PER 1850 USFederal census in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania... William McCain(and variations) born abt 1815, wife Catherine born abt 1819 and son William B. born abt 1834 all in Ireland(we were told Northern Ireland)  There are Birneys in Philadelphia and a James Birney in Chester Co.,Pa. related and connected to my female dna, but cannot prove Catherine a sibling, as don't have  parents names.. We do not know when either William and Catherine Burney McKain(parents ,died and/or where) Many Wm McKain's listed in Phila deaths until1872,but can't prove... Thank you Lois Butler

    I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not locate a baptismal record for young William or a marriage record for William and Catherine. The surnames would point to Northern Ireland (as your note indicated). I think at this point, following DNA matches is your best chance for coming up with more info on your family.

    the above in quotes was on an Irish website. at time I first asked, no one available here for Kildare...anyone now?
