I have traced my Lowery ancestry back to James LOWERY, b.1854 in Drumsnat.

In 1874 he was a constable in The Irish Police and he transferred to the Metropolitan Police, London England, where he remained until his death.

I believe he married a Mary Murphy in Ireland before he came to England. I cannot find anything about his family prior to him coming to England.

Any information or leads would be welcome.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

James and Mary were married in Limerick city in November 1876. Here is the civil marriage record from the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie  https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1876/11189/8100359.pdf

The names of the fathers of James and Mary are also listed and they were married in a Church of Ireland church.

  • Thank you all.

Unbelievable amount of information, some of it fits perfectly with what I know, others need checking against all my paperwork.

I will keep you all posted as to what I find.

Thanks again. (Hoping to visit Monaghan next year but not getting any younger!)
