Hello. I am seeking details of my grandfather who came from "Loomcloom , County Sligo". My grandfather was born 27th December 1897 in "Loomcloom , County Sligo". His father's name is "Martin Hannon " , occupation : "Farmer". His mother's name is "Maria Hannon" ,(nee "McDonagh") , occupation : "Farmers wife.". My grandfather had 4 sister's and 1 brother. They are :--
" Ellen Hannon" , age : 11 years.
"Annie Hannon" , age : 9 years..
"Mary Hannon" , age : 7 years.
"Thomas Hannon" , age : 5 years. ("Brother").
"Bridget Hannon" , age : 1 years.
The above details are found in the 1901 "Sligo Census" and status that the "Hannon family" lived in "House No. 6 "Lomcloon , (Killaraght , Sligo"). I would be ever so grateful if anyone could provide me any details or information relating to my grandfather and his family living in "Loomcloom , County Sligo" Thanking you.

Anthony:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
There is no record of the marriage on the free site www.irishgenalogy.ie or on the subscription site Roots Ireland. Is it possible that Martin and Maria were married outside of Ireland. I noticed that the family was not in Loomcloon in the 1911 census. Did they emigrate?

Hello Robert .
Thank you for the information you gave me. The details I gave you relating to my grandfather "Martin J Hannon" were given to me by 2 members of the "Ireland Reaching Out" team who were in Liverpool taking part in the "Liverpool Irish Festival". They checked the 1901 "Sligo Census" which is where they found the "Hannon" family living in "Loomcloom" but could not find them in the 1911 census. I do not know anything about "Martin and Maria Hannon" only that on my grandfather's marriage certificate it states that his father is down as "Martin Hannon" , (deceased) , occupation : "Farmer". My grandfather got married in 1930 in Birmingham. That is all the information I have.
Kind Regards. Anthony McCarthy.

Hello Miriam. It's Anthony McCarthy here.
I have received and read your message giving details of the "Hannon" family who came from "Loomcloom , County Sligo". I have found it really interesting to read and discovered that this may be the right "Hannon family" that I have been looking for. At the moment it looks possible. I was surprised to read that 2 of "Martin Hannon's " sister's were born in the "U.S.A". I will certainly go on to the "Ancestry" site that you suggested to see what I can find out my grandfather's family. You have certainly been a great help which has been most appreciated by me and I would like to "Thank You" for the information you have sent on to me in helping me to trace my " Hannon " family tree . Thanking you.

Too much time has probably passed but I believe it's possible we have relatives in common. My great grandfather was Thomas J. Hannon. I have an indenture dated November 27, 1915 for property at 25th st in NYC. My grandfather was born in NYC in 1922. My father believes my great grandfather's mother was named Maria McDonough who died in 1936 in Long Island. My father has a picture that lists Ellen, Pat, Bridget, Michael by their sister/daughter Maria (he get confused so I'm not sure if this was intentional). My dad think Martin Hannon may have been a cousin. Regardless, if you are still looking I'd love to touch base. Sincerely, Andrea
