    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

There were four Bernard Brennan baptismal/birth records in Donegal from 1882-1892. If you located a census record, who were his parents?

  • Thanks for your response. His father was Denis Brennan, born around 1851. His mother was Mary McIntyre, born around 1863. I hope that helps. Thanks again. Anthony

  • I located a transcription of his baptismal record on the subscription site Roots Ireland. The spelling of the townland is actually Masiness in Clondahorky civil parish.

  • Hi Leaferguy

Did you have any Brennan relatives from Galway, in particular around Ardrahan?

I have my great grandmother Mary Brennan born 1806 who married Patrick Hynes and emigrated to Australia in 1863 and have come across some Brennan from Donegal, but couldn't be sure if there was a correct connection.

Are you perhaps living in Australia?

    Regards

    Andrea

  • Hi Anthony!

Denis and Mary were married March 28 1883. See second record at the link below. The names of the fathers of the bride and groom are on the record. Denis was 35 and Mary 31 which makes their years of birth around 1848 and 1852. The RC records for Clondahorky/Dunfanaghy parish do not begin until 1877 so no baptismal records would be available for Denis and Mary.

See last record Mary died in 1946. She was shown as 79 by her son John but she was likely about 94

Looks like John Brennan died in 1966 See last record. Daughter Peggy Dunning was informant

John Brennan married Kate Gallagher in 1915   See first record.

We only have access to civil birth records thru 1920. On the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie  I can see four birth records for children of John Brennan and Kate Gallagher.
