My great grandmother stepped off the ship in Queensland 1885 under the name Bertha Horwood. I suspect she was loose with the truth. I could not find her in the English census under that name and I have reason to believe that her mother Margaret Butler was from Cork Ireland.
Margaret Butler may have married a chap called Lynch in Ireland. I can not see a marriage between Lynch and Butler in England.
Margaret Butler was roughly born abt. 1830, and may have married in Cork in abt. 1850’s
Could someone explore that for me? Many thanks.

Hi Robyn, I am looking at old quereis and it is possible she migrated via Cork as I think a lot of sailings to New Zealand were from Cork, I found no Horwood or Harwood names in Cork not a Margaret Butler marriage, I tried Dublin and there is a lof of Harwoods and see in 1844 and John Butler married a Catherine Harwood. The only other info is the witnesses.
Yu ocan view it here for free, sigh in click church and Dublin, https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ Only Dublin;Cork and Kerry are on the church reocrds and civil records for all commence in 1864.
Good Luck
