Hello there is a an Ellen Mulrooney died aged 35 in Listowel, Kerry, I am unable to see the cert for a transcripton error but you can email for copy of the entry for very little

Happy New year Pat. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will check out the Ellen Mulrooney in Kerry. It is possible that she was buried in the county of birth but i suspect she is buried in limerick or Galway where Patrick was transferred to. Thanks for the Facebook group suggestions too. According to the birth cert I have for Patrick he was baptised in ballintogher Sligo but birthplace in Dromahair. I know they are not so far away but maybe I've got my wires crossed with two different patricks

I thought I would keep this in the same thread instead of starting a new one. Can anyone tell me where I could find more information about Ennismagrath parish records? On rootsireland I found a marriage certificate for Patrick Mulrooney and Bridget Walsh  (21-AUG-1835 • Ennismagrath, Leitrim, Ireland).

In 1834, in Dereens,(which I believe is close to Ennismagrath) according to the tithes aplotment books, Pat Mulrooney had 5 acres of moor land in Dereens. http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?…

I think their son, my great-great grandfather Patrick Joseph Mulrooney, was born around 1846 .. obviously, an unfortunate time to be born in Irish history and I cannot find a birth cert for him.  I cannot find any other siblings. There is a Catherine Mulrooney in the 1901 census living in Corglancey. It is possible that she married one of the Mulrooney sons - she was a widow in 1901. 

Hello and welcome, Roots Ireland is about the best or at least up there for church records in Ireland currently, the parish is a civil parish (religious or RC parishes were not always identical having townlands moved in and out as the bishop adjusted for population etc) this site will show you the area of the parish slight change in spelling as Innishmagrath, Derrens is a townland in it and you can see the relationships by checking the maps, you can see maps on the OSI website if you want and purchase also, https://www.townlands.ie/leitrim/ and https://www.osi.ie/ 

Oddly Leitrim appears to be separated north and south and besides the FB page on Leitrim there are separate private pages doing DNA matches if thats your cuppa, South Leitrim Gedmatch and Sligo and North Leitrim, I think, south Leitrim is my area so not great on North Leitrim but I have found the local studies section of the Leitrim Library very helpful, closed currently on virus thing, see http://www.leitrimcoco.ie/eng/Community-Culture/Library/ I think but am not positive that there is a book on Innishmagrath parish published locally within the last 20 years and probably not now available as they are sort of single runs, the local library may know, thing like school rolls etc included but they would be only commence about 1880 or slightly earlier.

I think a friend may have a copy of it and will mail him, we are both of an age to be on total lockdown so I cannot go and borrow it but will ask if there are any Mulrooneys in it. There is also a Leitrim Ancestors website but again mainly south Leitrim I think but worth a look. https://www.yourleitrimancestors.ie/index.htm I do not see the name listed.

The school rolls would be very interesting because I have no idea whether my great grandfather was raised in Leitrim or in Limerick and this would settle this question for once and for all. 

Hi Just heard back about the book on Innishmagrath and there are no school rolls in it nor mention of the names. I might be worth while when the libraries re open which is scheduled in for the 9th June I think to see what they may have in their archives.
