Ivor,
Todd is a very common surname in Co. Antrim. In the 1901 census there were 842. 80 of them lived in the Ballyclare electoral district. If you want to find information on your particular ancestors, the more information you can provide the more likely you are to get a response.
Can you give us details of specific ancestors you know lived in Ireland? When were they born, when did they die, did they marry in Ireland, did they leave (if so, when) etc? Also what denomination and what trades did they follow, as that can affect the type of record to search. (For example, farmers usually stayed put but labourers frequently moved around to follow the available work).

Hi Elwyn, I'm looking for anything related to a William Todd Born about 1799 Died 1877 in Waterheadsrtown, Married a Margaret Tomson. I have little bits of info on their children but nothing on themselves. allthe births are in the Kilbride Rashee Drumadarragh Ballylinny areas of Ballyclare. Hope that helps. Thanks for any help you can throw my way. Ivor

If you know which church the family attended, have you checked their baptism and marriage records? Have you searched for gravestones in the area?
I assume you have read William’s will which is on the PRONI website. Here’s the abstract:
The Will of William Todd late of Waterheadstown Drumadarragh County Antrim Farmer deceased who died 13 February 1877 at same place was proved at Belfast by the oaths of Thomas Hill of Tildarg and James Alexander of Carnlea both in (Ballyclare) same County Farmers two of the Executors.
The will mentions Williams wife Margaret, daughters Margaret McCauley, Eliza Anderson and his late son Robert. Also Robert’s wife Sarah and their children Robert, William, Margaret & Anne.
Looking at Griffiths for 1862 William had plots 1 & 2 in Drumadarragh, a total of about 67 acres.
He’s also listed in the tithes for 1833 as farming there:

I searched a newspaper site for any mention of Todd plus Drumadarragh. There was an article in the Northern Whig in 1928 about the Todds selling Angora rabbits, and a warning from them in the Larne Times in 1954 that dogs running loose on their land would be shot. Nothing else of note.
2 Todd households in Drumadarragh in 1901:

It's generally helpful if you tell us what research you have already conducted, as it avoids pointless duplication.
If you have all the information I found you have probably got back about as far as you are likely to get. There are no earlier comprehensive records. You could try the Registry of Deeds. With a big farm such as the Todds there's fair chance of a 3 lives lease in the 1700s and that might well be in the Registry of Deeds. Search under townland.
You wonder where the family came from originally. Almost certainly Scotland, in the 1600s. But there's unlikely tob e any documentary record of exactly where or when. Good luck anyway.
