John Ryan, husband of Sarah Torpey/Tarpy. John and Sarah are my gg grandparents and were married in Capataggle Galway in 1824. I know Sarah was born in Galway, not sure about John.
I found the family of John Ryan coming to America in a record in the database called "Philadelphia, Passenger and Immigration List 1800-1850" on Ancestry. The Ship's Manifest for a Ship called "Thos H Perkins" showed members of my family arriving in the port of Philadelphia from Liverpool on the "Thos H Perkins" on Dec 9, 1850.
John, my gg grandfather was on the Manifest and was listed as dead. So from that record I believe that he died aboard ship before they arrived here. I would like to see if I can get a death certificate for my gg grandfather.
I looked on family search wiki without success.

Does anyone know where passenger deaths aboard ship in 1850 were recorded ?
Any help you can give me that will help me learn anything new about my gg grandfather would be greatly appreciated.

If the ship was British registered, then in 1850 there was no requirement to register a death on board. (That was only introduced in 1854). Death registration only started in Ireland in 1864 so there's no question of it being registered here. Perhaps if the ship was a US vessel there might have been a requirement to register it. (I don't know enough about US law to answer that). But I suspect the answer to your question may be that it wasn't registered anywhere.
