I have been researching my x2Grandparents Robert & Lucinda Dagg life from County Westmeath. They married in Portnashangan and lived there until they migrated to New Zealand in 1856.
Have not been able to find any record of his birth in Westmeath, and no details of Roberts parents.
Their names of Robert Dagg born 1793 and Dorothea Kendrick born about 1795.
I am thinking now that Robert jnr was not born in Westmeath but another county.
There are several Robert Dagg in the 1825 Applotment Tithes in Coolkenna and Upper Aghold with dates that could be Robert snr.
Is there any way of finding more information regarding these men?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Recently, the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie added the non-RC marriages which were registered between 1845-1863. I found the record (faint) for Robert and Lucinda. These records should show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom. For some reason Robert's father is not shown. Lucinda's father was Henry. Both families lived in Ballynagall townland in Portnashangan civil parish.
The baptismal records for Portnashanagan parish start in 1878. See this listing https://www.ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/registers/ParishRegisters/PARISHREGISTERS.pdf
Likely the pre-1878 records were destroyed in the Public Records Office fire in 1922.
I was not able to locate Tithe records for Portnashanagan parish.
FindMyPast is down currently. I want to check to see if I can find other records.

Hi Noeline,
Like you, I am searching for Daggs.
Your Robert and Dorethea are mentioned in the Marriage Licence Bonds for the Diocese of Ossory, Ferns and Leighlin 1691 - 1845, A to J. This book/register is held in the National Archives, Dublin. It may be on-line now. If so, it should be on the National Archives. There was no internet when I first searched.
Dagg Robert and Kendrick Dorothea 6 Nov 1819
The Church entry can also be found with this link:
https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/search.jsp?name2f…
As this link is so long, unless you paste it into your browser, it is much quicker to open irishgenealogy.ie and search Church Records, Marriage, Carlow and Robert Dagg.
This couple had 6 children ( or more)
James Joseph Dagg baptised 17 Oct 1820
Mary Dagg " 15 Sep1822
Robert David Dagg " 24 Sep 1823
John Dagg " 1 Sep 1824
Sarah Dagg " 23 Nov 1828
Dorothea Dagg " - Sep 1830
Mary married a Thomas Richardson in 4 Apr 1841 in Carlow Parish. I have no info on the others. This is partly because they are not in the branch that I am researching but you may well find more data on the above website.

Sean,
