I have family from County Kildare near Newbridge, Roseberry. I have checked the baptism records and found a Patrick Morrisey/Sally Lord who were the parents of Michael Morrisey b.1825. I have hit a bit of a brick wall finding any other details on Michaels father or mother - no marraige records or anything in Griffiths or any other available online sources.
I know that Michael Morrisey married Elizabeth Hickey in or about 1849, which I believe happened in Ireland before they came to the US in 1850. There are no records I can find for Elizabeth in the online sources, there are some american census and death certificate. However, none of those records has any information on her parents or origin.
I believe there are still some Morrisey relatives in Newbridge/Roseberry area. I an looking for Morrisey or Hickey relations, or if anyone might know of where else I might find details or records of these families.
Also, can anyone recommend a local history book that might include information about how the the Morrisey/Hickey families arrived in Kildare, how long they might have been there, and other background information. I am hoping to visit Kildare sometime in the next couple years to do some deeper research, but I am hoping to have as much background as possible before a visit.
