Looking for information on GGrandfather Thomas John. I don't believe his family were not Catholic. THOMAS JOHN Johnston was born in 1833 in Calinafercy, Co Kerry, Baptized 20 January, 1833 in Kilcolman, Kerry his father, WILLIAM, was 26 and his mother, ANN Miles, was 18. He had seven sons and three daughters with MARY JOSEPHINE O'Conner (born in Killarney, Kerry) between 1858 and 1878. He died on March 1, 1907, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 74.

Rootsireland has baptisms for A Thomas Johnston Johnston in 1836 and another Thomas Johnston in 1837. Father William. There’s also Anna Matilda Johnston baptised 1835 parents William & Ann. It’s pay to view (I don’t have a subscription at present) but you might want to investigate those.
A lot of Protestant records are not on-line, so it may be that your family attended a church whose records are not available on-line. Makes finding them pretty difficult as there are a couple of hundred churches in Belfast.
