Greetings from Australia,
can anyone please help with a baptism record for Ellen Bridget Gleeson born 03 February 1927 to mother Delia Gleeson, father unknown? I am hoping the baptism record might name the father. Per 1911 census, the family is Catholic.
Delia Gleeson, born about 1896 (aged 2 on 1901 census, aged 15 on 1911 census), may have died in 1930 in Croom. She is in Gooig, Castleconnell on both sets of census data.
Thanks, Alan Denham

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
We do not have access online to baptismal records from the 1920s. You would need to contact the parish.
This may be the civil birth record for Delia (shown as Bridget) in 1898 https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1898/02056/1786575.pdf
Here is the death record from 1930 (last record on page). Her age was understated. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1931/04901/4328323.pdf

Hi Roger,
Thanks for your prompt reply and the links to the records. I have a minor DNA match to someone in the USA who has Delia Gleeson on their tree. I am trying to develop their basic tree to aid me in finding my mystery great-great-grandparents so it’s a bit of a stretch. Your reply prompted me to look at the 1901 and 1911 census data again and I now see that there are two Delia (Bridget) Gleesons recorded, both in Gooig, Castleconnell.
This one is aged 5 in 1901 with father Matthew, a widower, aged 46 (then 60 on 1911 census!) ……. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Limerick/Castleconnell/Gooig/1494267/
This one is age 2 in 1901 with step-father Patrick Joyce and mother Margaret, and can be found on 1911 census as well, still in Gooig …… http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Limerick/Castleconnell/Gooig/1494265/
Neither matches with the birth record for 26 Nov 1898 as the parents on this record are shown as William Gleeson and Bridget Cusack although the age is correct in 1901 for the Patrick Joyce family.
I think the best bet is to contact the parish as you have suggested, try to find accurate details for the birth in 1927 then work backwards from there. I have found an email address for the Catholic church in Castleconnell so will contact them to see what might be possible. If I get a result, I’ll let you know.
Thanks again for your assistance.
