Greetings from Australia,

searching for a possible ancestor William Jourdan with wife Judith Feeheny from the Dromcollogher area. A William Jurden can be found on the 1833 tithe applotment book http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/LIM/DromcolliherTithes.htm

William and Judith (or Jude or Julia) had a daughter Ellen born circa 1833 who sailed to Australia in 1850 on the ship Tippoo Saib and married a much older Thomas Denis O'Sullivan in 1851 in New South Wales. No baptism record can be found for Ellen but baptism records can be found in the Catholic registers for Dromcollogher for her sister Mary (1834) and brother Edmund (1836) naming both parents. Interestingly there is a Thomas O'Sulivan as sponsor for one of these baptism records. The passenger records show that Ellen's father William was deceased when she set sail but her mother was still alive in 1850.

If anyone has any knowledge of this family, please get in touch.

Thanks, Alan Denham, a descendant of mystery great-great grandparents John Jordon and Mary O'Connor connected by DNA to descendants of Ellen Jourdan and to descendants of Mary Jordan who married James Canty in Dromcollogher in 1833 who ended up in Geelong, Victoria.
