Hi all,
I am seeking information on the decendents of the relatives of my 2G grandfather, John Cawley, who remained in Ireland after John emigrated about 1834 to Canada / America. They were living in Kilmorgan parish, Branchfield townland.
The 1858 Griffith’s valuation indicates Hugh and Thomas Cawley in Branchfield.
The 1901 census show Anne, (widow of Hugh 1822-1888), and Catherine (1841-?) still there.
1911 census Anne (1833-?), Patrick (probable son b. 1854), Anne (b. 1857 possible wife of Patrick), James (b. 1887 possibly son of Anne & Patrick still in Branchfield.
The next information I have is 1960. A Patrick Cawley who appears to be the last Cawley landowner living in Branchfield recorded in the Landowners record around 1960.
That’s all I have on my Sligo ancestors.
Does anyone know about these Cawley families or anyone from Branchfield townland?
Thanks much

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
You may want to search on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie for civil death, birth and marriages records for Cawleys from Branchfield. The registration district is Sligo. Cawley was a common surname in the area so you will see a lot of reocrds. I found a death record for Anne in 1918 and also for a Patrick Cawley who died in 1935 ( and is shown in Branchfield in the 1911 census).
