Patrick Hanrahan (born 1784)

Regarding "Patrick Hanrahan" Convict Stockade records this name as "Hanaghan". Apparently the name "Hanahan" is regarded as being of County Limerick origin. (Surnames of Ireland by Dr. Edward MacLysaght).  The convict record for Atlas 11 out of Cork on May 30th 1802 gives 32 prisoners who were convicted in Limerick, while Patrick Hanaghan is the only one recorded for Loughrea. 

The records prior to 1836 were destroyed in 1922 according to the National Archives. See www.nationalarchives.ie  However, there may be some detail available for prisoners who appealed their sentence. Check "Convicts to Australia" 1788 - 1836. Prisoners Petitions.

A lot of information on this man - Google "Patrick Hanrahan" Australian Royalty. You may already be aware of it!

I did not find anything in the few papers which were printed at the time.

Thanks. I have placed Patrick on the Atlas that arrived in Australia in July 1802. The Hanaghan alternative was a good tip as since found him in another database using that name (can't be too many Patrick's that married Euphimia Young's from Aberdeen.) I will try and get at the other sources you suggest.
