For the past few weeks, in response to the Covid-19 crisis, the Irish Embassy in London has been sharing artistic contributions from poets, writers, singers musicians and actors on their social media as part of their From Isolation – Inspiration initiative
Speaking earlier this month about this innovative project, Ambassador Adrian O’Neill said: “Across these islands, there are many artists who also are in domestic isolation. They and their work continue to be important sources of inspiration to us all, especially in these difficult times.”
From Isolation – Inspiration involves a series of short videos posted on the Embassy social media channels which feature individual Irish artists currently in domestic isolation performing their art – a musician, singer, poet, novelist, actor etc. The videos are filmed by the artist in their home or garden and are designed to inspire and bring solace and cheer in these testing times.
Now in its third week, the initiative has built up an impressive list of contributors, and also offers a wonderful insight into the lives of these artists at this time, as they experience social isolation across the islands of Ireland and Great Britain. With thanks to the Irish Embassy in London, we have gathered some of the highlights to share with our IrelandXO community, in the hope that they will bring you moments of comfort and joy, during these difficult days.
